Gymnastics/Acro

Our Gymnastics/Acro classes combine the techniques of both genres.

Gymnastics teaches students to roll, jump, swing and turn upside down. This includes running, jumping, tumbling, somersaulting, flipping and balancing. Gymnastics provides a sound foundation in movement for boys and girls of all ages, encouraging a healthy habit of health & fitness from early in your child's life, supporting laying the foundations for a lifetime.

Acro is defined by its athletic character and its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics. It is a graceful dance technique mixed with acrobatic elements, students will learn coordination, dance steps and musicality to link together gymnastics floor skills, tumbling, contortion and tricks and lifts into exciting sequences. Tumbling

Tumbling is a form of gymnastics performed individually, without props or equipment, e.g. flips, somersaults, layouts, handsprings, tuck backs. These are more advanced skills, and require the students to have mastered all the basic skills in gymnastics on equipment and floor.

Students are required to take tumbling as an additional class alongside gymnastics as tumbling requires increased fitness, strength, power and speed to prevent injury. These more advanced skills are developed as the students develop their own core body strength and as they refine all of their own gymnastics skills from training on the apparatus.

Street

'Street dancing' is commonly used to identify many hip-hop styles that began appearing in the U.S in the 1970s and are still evolving within the street and hip-hop culture today. It provides students with the opportunity to explore and develop the skills that are the pure essence of “street” including breaking, locking and popping. The classes aim to build a dancer's strength, stamina and agility whilst enhancing their knowledge and performance of 'street dance'. Dances are performed to fast paced, current pop & hip-hop songs, and is a fantastic way of exercising in a fun, energetic way!
